Katsushika Hokusai “HOKUSAI IN BLOOM”
2025.4.17(Thu) – 2025.6.8(Sun)
HOKUSAI IN BLOOM is an exhibition featuring 65 works by the Edo-period ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai, centered around the theme of flowers, as suggested by the word 'BLOOM,' with pieces from his Hokusai Manga and additional special displays creating the exhibition space. Flowers, which have long symbolized "beauty," "ideals," and at times "transience" or "awe," have been a medium for many artists' expressions and reflections. How did these flowers appear through the eyes of Hokusai? In spring, nature comes to life. In the fields and towns, colorful flowers bloom in profusion. We hope you will enjoy Hokusai's humorous depictions of the myriad of phenomena surrounding flowers, the city of Edo, and the exuberance of its people, all depicted with his precise touch.
